About Us

We are a guinea pig boarding, grooming and rescue, based in Southampton, Hampshire; and was set up in May 2023. I specialise in guinea pigs and have also cared for a range of other small pets before including rabbits and hamsters.

How It Started

I got my first guinea pigs for Christmas when I was 8 years old. I started Pampered Piggies in 2023 as I realised that people weren't getting their guinea pigs nails cut due to the prices charged by the vets. In the beginning I just provided services such as nail clipping, grooming and boarding - it then progressed to rescue work!

I am now 21 years old and have found loving homes for over 300 piggies, and have over 10 volunteers who I have personally vetted, helping me look after the ones who are waiting for new homes.

 

I also care for 18 pigs who either were too old to ethically re-home, or have health issues which would be unfair to put on new owners. They all live in a custom built enclosure in my garden.

 

I am a huge advocate for guinea pig welfare and do what ever I can to ensure people understand the care guinea pigs require. I use my Facebook and Instagram pages to help raise awareness of guinea pig welfare.

We finance the care of our piggies through kind donations, boarding fees, Piggy services and fundraising. These are spent on food, hay and vet bills.
