Becoming a foster carer

Here at Pampered Piggies, we are always looking for new foster carers to help with the endless stream of guinea pigs needing new homes. The role of a foster carer involves looking after guinea pigs in your own home until they find their new forever home.

You will need to be able to provide your own suitable set up for them with minimum requirements being 5ft in length for two guinea pigs. You would also need to provide their food, hay and water. Pampered Piggies will expense any vet bills but vet trips must be authorised by ourselves first.

Previous experience of handling and caring for guinea pigs is preferred but not required, we am happy to show and advise you on how to appropriately care for them.

Access to a car is mandatory in order to potentially take guinea pigs on vet trips or to pick up or drop them off from old or new homes.

You will need to be able to keep in regular contact with me via facebook or whatsapp with pictures and videos of the guinea pigs that I can use on Facebook.

I never know how long guinea pigs will be in your care for. It could range from a day to several months and there is often very little notice of when guinea pigs will need rescuing.

The primary foster carer must be 18 or over however we are more than happy for children to help out too! The guinea pigs just need a safe space until they find their new forever home.
